Click here to view The Evening Record article dated Saturday January 6, 1906, on the death of Nelson Haas, which states that Charles A. Bennett was one of the students Nelson Haas had tutored to pass the entrance examination to Annapolis. The article also states Charles A. Bennett was from Leonia at the time, and that he was already a Captain on January 6, 1906. This probably is the same person as the Charles A. Bennett of the June 4, 1917 article. He was a Colonel in Command of Coast Batteries, which would fit the time line for promotion and the name is exactly the same, although his mother was now living on Euclid Avenue in Hackensack. I
cannot be totally sure.
